1st Birthday Party! Super Hero Themed On a Budget
1st Birthday Party! Super Hero Themed On a Budget
We keep our kid's birthday parties super small by only inviting immediate family and by no mean go crazy, but I love a good theme and photo opt spot! Johnny's first birthday was one for the books. It was superhero themed, of course, for our little Marvel. This superhero birthday party was done on a budget! Below I'll share my shopping list for you to create your own.

If you create your own Super Hero 1st Birthday Party, be sure to tag @wearingmomjeans on Instagram I'd love to see what you put together!
Food- Trays I picked up from the Dollar Store. I wanted something easy for cleanup. These worked great.
Wings these are always a crowd-pleaser and so easy. We got a great deal on ready pre-made wings for $5 a bag. Just throw down some ranch or blue cheese, and you'll be ready to party.
Corn chips, Salsa, & Guac! Easy finger food. We also did a cheese and cracker platter.
I made the birthday cake, but I cheated a bit and used an organic box mix... mainly because I suck at baking, but I revised the vanilla box mix by added lemon and decorated with strawberries for a fun twist. Candles were also from the Dollar Store.

Photo Opt Spot - I created a little balloon arch. The based I used fun blue shinny ones and accented in superhero ones, but you can do this in any color combo you wish. These are SUPER easy to make, and there are tons of tutorials on youtube. If you don't already have one, I recommend getting a little balloon inflator; this will ensure you don't pass out. You'll thank me later.

Capes/Masks - These masks and cape sets were perfect for further theming the party. They came with a bunch of stickers that you see used to decorate further! That was a fun surprise that brought the decor to the next level. I also strung up a few on some twine over the food bar, clipped them with clothespins.

I created a little shrine for lack of a better word. Luckily my husband's office is superhero-themed, so I was able to pull things from that room to create this setup fairly easy. His desk was great for holding the cups/plates and gifts. If you don't happen to have a superhero desk lying around, any table with a cloth will do. I pinned up a plastic table cover from the Dollar Store, added a few balloons around the edge, and layered with some vintage comics around the photo frame. His birth announcement also went up here for the added "aww" factor.

Outfits!
Mom/Dad "Raising Super-Heros" T-Shirts are coming shoot to the Wearing Mom Jeans shop launching 2020.

Johnny's birthday is vest/bowtie from a fabulous small shop I discovered on Esty called Indigo Finch Stitches. They did an AMAZING job, and I would 100000% recommend them. Fast shipping and the quality is out of this world. I will be framing this vest/bowtie duo in a shadow box for my husband's superhero-themed office.

This party was a blast to put together. We all had so much fun. To follow along with us day by day checkout @wearingmomjeans on IG.
